Mechanical Estimator (New Construction)
Ashton’s Mechanical division has reached unprecedented growth and we are expanding our operation to support it. We are currently hiring for a Mechanical Estimator(New Construction) to join our growing Mechanical Construction Division! The successful candidate should be comfortable working in a fast-paced organization and be a resourceful self-starter. The ideal candidate is results-driven and is looking to contribute to a team that is positive, forward-thinking, and motivated by the success of everyone within the organization. This position is permanent, full-time, and reports directly to the Construction Manager.

Responsibilities
- Estimate plumbing/HVAC/mechanical material, labour, sub and permit costs for bids, tenders and other opportunities
- With support from the Construction Manager, coordinate the entire tender process with clients, subcontractors, vendors and suppliers
- Participate in bid review meetings, prepare estimates for review and administer final bid process, ensuring deadlines are adhered to
- Evaluate tender opportunities and identify risks and opportunities, submit recommendations to the management team
- Utilize best practices to ensure competitiveness and enhance our existing tendering process
- Perform pre-tender site walkthroughs
- Analyze drawings and specifications
- Consult and communicate with engineers, architects, owners, GC’s
- Create and issue quotes/proposal submission documents
- Review contract documents including general conditions, tender form, drawings, and required price breakdowns
- Participate in turnover meetings with the project team for awarded projects, and assist in creating preliminary budgets and schedules
- Assist with change order pricing when asked
- Maintain a healthy relationship with external suppliers, consultants, clients and end users, as well as internal Project Managers & Coordinators, and Construction Manager, and field technicians
- Populate tender management software, prepare bid result analysis and other reporting relating to estimating
- Other duties to support your team
Qualifications and Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years mechanical contracting estimating experience within the ICI sector
- Post-secondary degree in construction management, mechanical engineering; or a combination of relevant education and experience would be an asset
- Red Seal Plumbing Certification or related field experience is an asset
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Project)
- Proficiency with an estimating software is required; proficiency in Trimble Auto-Bid is an asset
- Proficiency in Procore is preferred
- Excellent ability to read and interpret engineering drawings (including but not limited to electrical, mechanical, plumbing IFCs/IFTs)
- Exceptional communication and teamwork skills – must be able to work well with customers, suppliers, management, and coworkers
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment
- Strong organization skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and to make decisions using sound judgement
- Potential for future hybrid remote work
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $110,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
